The implementation part of the project covered Task 1 – “Implementation of aluminum sorting technology using X-ray and infrared detectors,” carried out from 2024-03-01 to 2024-06-30, with a total budget of PLN 4,308,056.62 (PLN 3,502,485.04 eligible costs, PLN 1,400,993.97 in funding).

This module implements the results of R&D work carried out independently by the applicant (SMR Polska) concerning aluminum sorting using X-ray detectors and infrared (IR) cameras. The task involved purchasing and installing a complete sorting line: an XRT+IR sorter, a supporting structure, a set of conveyors with a feed hopper, a feeder and conveyor control system, a compressor installation, and a spark spectrometer for material composition control.

The implementation resulted in two product innovations – high-aluminum-content granulate (98% purity, compared to 94% achieved by manual sorting) and high-purity zinc (zinc content in the light fraction below 0.5%, compared to the previous 1–2%). Thanks to the implementation, the project is also achieving its target revenue from sales of new products at the level of PLN 40,579,000.
